Polish-born cellist Marek Szpakiewicz has been described by Yo-Yo Ma as an artist whose “energy, motivation, earnestness and generosity of spirit are evident through his work.” Szpakiewicz’s work, as a soloist with various orchestras in Europe and in the United States, has drawn praise from critics, who have described him as “a gifted player,” “with expansive vision and immense authority,” and “no technical limitation.” Polish and American radio stations have broadcasted his live performances, including the one-hour special program dedicated solely to his music on KUSC-Los Angeles.
Marek cares deeply about and has tremendous pride in his profession. Marek is making a wonderful contribution to the community that he has become part of and will continue to make a difference in the American musical landscape.
I have heard his performance of my ‘Fancy On A Bach Air’, and can state without question that it is a brilliant and very special performance. I believe he will make a great contribution to the United States through his musicianship.
Mr. Szpakiewicz offers a valuable contribution to the classical music field as he possesses a unique style.
His cello performance technique beyond the limit, his intensive commitment to music, his artistic integrity and charismatic personality are qualities that give people all over the world the opportunity to have their lives enriched by the phenomenal music that he creates through his performances.
